Poplar Hawk Moth.
It’s peculiar appearance is mainly due to it’s habit of resting with it’s hind wings held slightly forward by it’s fore wings. It’s colouring resembles a cluster of dead leaves from it’s main host tree, the Poplar.

i took this in verona the morning after the arctic monkeys concert and everything was silent and still and i remember thinking that i would have given anything for the world to stay this way
